Shadowing the Russians

Guadalupe got a break from the customer ships on Yankee Station.
During one of the many times in Subic loading up Guadalupe's OP schedule
was changed and she was ordered along with 2 Destroyer's to shadow
the Russian Fleet that was moving from the winter port in the Black Sea to
Vladivostok.

The Russian's were anchored on a underwater atoll. since they had no friendly
ports this was their routine during the long transit. They anchored for upkeep, refueling, and repairs.

Guadalupe's mission was to refuel the Destroyer's while the Russian Fleet was followed
all the way to the Aleutian Islands. The refueling's in the Aleutian's were the farthest
north any U.S. Navy ships had conducted at-sea-refueling since WWII.

There is more to this story but I am not going to post it on the internet
